The Best Fertility Prayer While Trying to Conceive

The Best Fertility Prayer

Last Updated on September 28, 2023 by Avi Steen

My fertility prayer journey started with a pen and paper. Not fertility products or supplements. Just the Lord and I.

At first, I didn’t know how to pray, so I wrote to God. I’m sure many others, before giving their lives to Christ, didn’t know how to pray as well, so this post is for you.

Grab a journal and just start writing your thoughts, desires, weaknesses, strengths, worries, and pain. God wants to hear it all.

As a prayer newbie, when it came to praying, I would OCCASIONALLY pray over my food, saying: “Thank you, Lord, for this food that you have given me. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.”

Yep, that’s it.

That was the extent of my prayer life, and from what I can remember, it didn’t even happen every day. So a lot of the food in my life has been eaten unblessed.

Now when it comes to prayer, I find myself 15 minutes in with tissues full of tears and on the floor, laid out before God.

Don’t worry, I’m not always so dramatic but when God is working IN my life, I can’t help but to give Him praise, and when he is working ON my life, I can’t help but to pray!

Learn to Pray

In 2015, at a women’s group meeting at church, I learned how to pray.

I was taught an acronym to remember for prayer: ACTS. (Because we want God to ACT in our life, right?)

ACT:

  • Adoration
  • Confession
  • Thanksgiving
  • Supplication

First, give adoration for our Lord and Savior, honor God, and tell Him how great he is for the sacrifice that he gave for you. Give him praise and acknowledge Him as your one and only God.

Then, confess any sins known and unknown. Pray that the Lord fills you with more of him and less of this world.

Next, thank Him for what He’s done, for what He is doing, and for what He is going to do in your life. Give him praise again because he is worthy!

Finally, supplicate yourself unto Him. Humbly ask God for your heart’s desire. Make your request known to Him so that he may provide.

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16 KJV

Apply Prayer to Your Life

In other words, the sincere and passionate prayer of a saved and sanctified man (or woman) is beneficially powerful.

I don’t know about you, but I want my prayers to be powerful.

Every time I pray, I want God to know that I thank him, praise him, and give Glory to his name. Now as I have evolved in my prayer life to pray multiple times a day (even praying over my vitamins, lol), I find myself thinking of others out of the blue.

I believe that is the Holy Spirit letting me know that person is in need of prayer, and I obey. Therefore, dive into prayer so that you may be blessed and also be a blessing to others.

Now that I have built this TTC community, I find that my subscribers or email list sisters come to mind frequently in need of fertility prayers! How great is OUR God!

Prayer Books That Helped Me:

How Do I Begin to Pray?

Here’s a simple prayer to start with:

The Lord’s Prayer

“Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13

Now, I start every day with “Thank You, Jesus” as I awake and prayer as I start my day.

On the way to the gym, I pray.

Before I eat,  pray.

While I’m at work, I definitely pray.

My mother-in-law gave me a perfect scripture/painting to hang on my wall as a housewarming gift:

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, PRAY about everything.” Philippians 4:6

How do I Pray a Fertility Prayer?

Hannah from 1 Samuel in the bible had the ULTIMATE fertility prayer in the bible.

Hannah prayed to conceive a baby and I related to her story immensely when I was trying to conceive my first child! She continued hoping and praying that motherhood is God’s will for her life. Is that you right now, sis?

The Story of Hannah

The name Hannah means graciousness and favor. God favored Hannah just like he favors you and I.  Elkanah (Hannah’s husband) also had another wife named Penninah. Penninah had children and Hannah did not.

Elkanah loved Hannah even though God had closed her womb; because of this, Penninah constantly provoked Hannah.

Have you ever been provoked? I’m pretty sure you can think of some instigators in your life who are always negative, nagging, or demeaning towards you. Sometimes we provoke ourselves! We see other pregnant women or happy couples or someone with something that WE WANT and we become so negative towards ourselves. In our minds, we start to think that these things will never happen to us.

Well, this happened to Hannah for YEARS. I can’t imagine what Hannah was going through and being nagged at the same time by another woman.

Hannah was provoked into a state of depression. She cried. She didn’t eat. The burden of being barren was too much. Infertility was taking over her life.

And then Elkanah (bless his heart) asked Hannah, “why are you crying? And not eating? Why are you so down, my love?” He said am I not enough? I am surely better than ten sons.

Little did Elkanah know that some voids cannot be filled by man alone but only by God. Hannah “was in bitterness of soul” (1 Samuel 10). Has your soul ever been bitter? What did you do about it?

How can I be like Hannah?

Sacrifice.

Because her soul was so bitter, she prayed and made a vow to the Lord:

“And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.” (1 Samuel 1:11)

She made a sacrifice before she received anything from God. She dedicated her son to the Lord even before she knew she would have one.

Pray.

Hannah continued to pray at church. Eli, the priest, one day saw Hannah, and her lips were moving but no words came out. (Sometimes, I have a silent prayer because I know God hears my heart.) Eli thought she was drunk the way she prayed. He asked why she came to church drunk.

Hannah replied by saying she was not drunk but in deep sorrow and only pouring out her soul to the Lord. How many of us are so deep in our prayers that we look crazy and drunk?

So deep in our prayers that we are giving our ALL to God.

Eli Understood and said go in peace, and may God grant your request. Sometimes God will send someone or people to confirm our prayers and that he has heard our cries.

“Oh, thank you, sir!” she exclaimed. Then she went back and began to eat again, and she was no longer sad.” (1 Samuel 1:18)

Trying to Conceive Guide

Worship

The next morning the family went to church and worshipped. Therefore, we have to pray and then worship and praise Him even before our prayers are answered. Have faith in our worship that our prayers have been heard.

After worshipping, they returned home and Elkanah knew Hannah. When someone ever knew someone else in the Bible, it means they were baby dancing! Then the bible says that “the Lord remembered her.”

In due time (the Bible doesn’t state how long), Hannah conceived a son named Samuel, who ultimately became a prophet. Then the Lord remembered Hannah five more times (she had five more children).

Faith

I’ll leave you with this: “Faith takes God without any ifs” -D.L. Moody

No more “if” I conceive. Have faith in God, my love!

Sacrifice for the Lord as he has sacrificed for us. So, pour out your heart in prayer and then worship him for the blessing you have faith is on its way!

He will remember you like he remembered Hannah.

Fertility Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you in praise and in worship of your holy name. We honor you for what you are doing, have done, and will do in our lives. We thank you for the opportunity to come boldly to your feet and pour out our greatest desires.

For God, your word says that you will give us the desires of our hearts if we delight in you. Today Lord, we ask that you open any closed womb, Lord. Lord, we pray that you touch and open our womb God so that we may carry a child through a healthy pregnancy. We pray that your healing touch is upon our reproductive organs and that you regulate any irregular hormones.

We pray that you cover our husband as well during this time, Lord, so that his seed may be ready. Today we plant a seed of prayer, and we will continue to water it by diving deeper with you because we know that you are the only one who can give the increase and growth. Soften our hearts, Lord, to follow you and to bask in your presence. Answer “year by year” prayers today, Lord.

In Jesus name, Amen.

The Benefits of Fertility Prayer

The benefits of prayer are often underestimated. Many couples trying to conceive believe that fertility treatments are the only way to achieve pregnancy.

However, fertility prayer can be a very powerful tool in your fertility journey, especially in your desire for a healthy baby.

Fertility prayer can help you connect with God and receive guidance and strength. It can also help to ease stress and anxiety, which can be common when trying to conceive.

Fertility prayer can also help you to focus on your fertility goals and remain positive throughout the process. Ultimately, praying for this desire to get pregnant will help you grow closer to God during this time.

If you are trying to conceive, praying for a little one may be a helpful addition to your fertility journey and spiritual growth.

How to Pray for Fertility

There are many ways to pray for fertility. The best way is to create your own fertility prayer.

When praying for fertility, it is important to be specific. Prayer is more effective when you focus on what you want to achieve rather than asking for general help. For example, you might pray for:

– healing of fertility issues

– a healthy pregnancy

guidance and support from God

– strength and patience during the fertility process

The bottom line is that fertility prayer is a personal and powerful tool that can help you on your journey to conceive.

Prayers for Getting Pregnant

There are also many prayers for fertility and pregnancy that you can use as a guide. I know it may seem silly at first to recite or even pray a get pregnant prayer but this helped immensely in my own journey. I pray it helps you too. Here are a few examples:

– Dear Lord, I come to You seeking guidance and support in our journey to conceive. Please help us to receive the fertility treatments we need, and give us patience and strength as we undergo this process. Amen.

– Heavenly Father, I offer You my gratitude for the gift of fertility. I ask that You please bless us with a healthy pregnancy. Guide our doctors and give us strength and patience as we undergo fertility treatments. Amen.

-Lord, I am grateful for this child that You have blessed us with. I pray that You will help us to conceive and carry this child to term. Amen.

Miracle Prayer Getting Pregnant

Dear Jesus, Lord, I’m praying for a miracle. I’m praying these prayers to get pregnant by your will over my life. You’ve placed these desires for a child in my heart Lord. Your word says that you’ll give us the desires of our hearts as we find joy in you. Give me joy even as I say this prayer to get pregnant. Give me peace today in the miracle I have faith you’ll provide. In Jesus name, amen.

Fertility Prayer to Conceive a Baby

Lord, please touch and heal my reproductive organs. Heal my body to conceive a baby this year. Work in my faith Jesus to rely on you through the entire process. Amen.

Fertility Prayer for a Friend

Lord, today I come in intercession for my friend who si trying to get pregnant. I pray that you open her womb to conceive a baby. I pray you bless me to support her during this journey. Allow me to be the friend she needs in this season. Amen.

IUI Fertility Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for this opportunity to conceive through IUI. I pray, Lord, that you bless each aspect of the treatment. Guide the doctors through your holy wisdom and continue to work through my husband and me as we seek you for a baby. Thank you, Lord, Amen.

Fertility Prayer Scriptures

There are also fertility prayer scriptures that can be helpful. Here are a few examples:

– “Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” -Matthew 6:34

– “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” -Mark 11:24

– “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.”-James 5:15

– “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” -1 Peter 1:3

Fertility Prayer for IVF

-Dear Heavenly Father, thank you, Lord, for your provision in our IVF journey. I pray, Lord, that you bless my womb and the implantation process to conceive and carry through a healthy pregnancy. Lord, allow your peace and patience to overwhelm us in this process as we await our results. In Jesus name, amen.

Who do you pray to for pregnancy?

God. During my trying to conceive journey, I prayed to God for a baby and also cast my worries to him. Trusting Him through the process helped me cope with the struggle of not conceiving month after month.

Prayer especially helped with my miscarriages and, ultimately the conception of my rainbow baby.

I would pour out my soul to God and tell him everything. I would even talk to my baby while in the womb and pray over them.

I truly believe that fertility prayers are heard and that they work. If you’re trying to conceive, be sure to add fertility prayer into your daily routine. You never know how or when God will answer your prayers!

Prayer to be Pregnant

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you, Lord, for the ability to come before you in prayer to be pregnant. I pray, Lord, to find comfort, strength, and peace in you alone. Encourage my heart during this difficult season.

Lord, bless me with a baby and also give me the strength to endure the journey it will take to conceive and carry a child. Send an encouraging word to strengthen my faith even more and help me to grow in a closer, deeper relationship with you, Father.

Amen.

  1. I actually don’t pray that often about it. I’d pray , then trust in the Lord for his divine plan. That in his perfect timing he will bless us.

I’m going to try your method of prayer , and be more passionate. I like what you said , we have to “Sacrifice “ of selves. Even if I have to do a fast off of social media, and certain foods, to for God. And trusting that he’ll answer my hearts desire accordingly to His Will.

    1. Thanks for sharing! Yea I love the story of Hannah because it showed how committed she was to prayer. And this applies to other prayers too not just fertility 🙌🏽🤗

  2. Hello,

First, I would like to say I discovered your platform from searching “Testimonys regarding infertility” on YouTube. I think what you’re doing is amazing sis!!!

I was diagnosed with PCOS 5 years ago and my husband and I have been #ttc.

I started to redirect my focus the last couple of months from how to conceive to focusing on God while he prepared me to conceive. For me a couple months ago my prayer wasnt for God to order my steps I was trying to order my own steps. So, my focus and prayer is different. I no longer consume myself in how to conceive videos (while some videos do help regarding exercise and diet) What consume myself now in is learning the word and praying to God a genuine prayer! I’ve learned to repeat Gods word back to him and really pray with purpose! So, I enjoy hearing others testimonies. Because I know that if he can do it for others he will definitely do it for me!!

This blog post blessed me tremendously!!

    Shay!

    1. Thanks for sharing Shay! Such a blessing that you’re learning how to pray with purpose through His word. One of the best feelings! Blessings and baby dust to you!

  3. Thank you for this Ava I have been prayering and trusting God. I was pregnant last November should have been along almost as you now but I sadly had a miscarriage it’s been a rough time but I am still praying and trusting God

  4. Thank you so much for all your wonderful posts and encouragement Avi 💛💚💛💚💛You are a real blessing from God more than you think. Last cycle was slightly hopeful…unfortunately I started a new cycle yesterday. I cried and negative thoughts started flooding my mind as usual. But this is a fresh cycle with renewed hope and strength from God. I will start to do more meditations focused on the Lord and my womb. Trusting Him is all He wants from us and daily I’m reminded that His promises NEVER fail to His children. He knows our desires and we can definitely trust Him with our hearts. I’m excited to pray a little deeper into these fertility focused prayers and really believing God for our miracle baby. 🙌💚🙏💪

  6. Thank you so much for this. It has reminded me of how powerful prayer is and that god is in control. I have a 23 year old and my husband has a 25 year old and a 15 year old. God has certainly blessed us with children. We don’t have any children conceived together and it is something we have always wanted. I’m 43 and although we have tried for years I have continued to miscarry. It’s getting more difficult as I get older but we having lost all hope. I pray often and often wonder what gods plan is for me. I am often confused and have always believed if I ask god for it I will receive it. I will continue to pray and continue to ask for as long as my body can.

  7. I have been praying lately but I have always included the “if” I get pregnant, I’m having a really hard time with my faith at this moment because when I first conceived, it happened right away. Since then no issue, but I know our good Lord has not forgotten me. I will pray more harder and this time i will use your method of praying. The Lord will certainly answer our prayers according to his promises Amen.

  9. Thank you for this! I use to say “if” I were to get pregnant. Now I am praying and saying, “when I get pregnant” because God answers prayers and His promises are Yes and Amen! We are married for over a year and now TTC for about 2 months. Today has been tough and I cried because I think I am starting my cycle again. I am trying really hard to not let fear in and to not focus much on my age, I am 33 and will be 34 next month in January. This prayer you helped, bookmarking, and I will be praying this daily.

Will you and anyone reading, please pray for me and my husband?

Thank you so much. God bless you all!
