How to Pray Scripture

Prayer is the path between our faith and God’s promises. Psalms 119:11 says “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” We have to have the word of God in our hearts and we should memorize that word to help our daily lives.

Scripture speaks positivity over our lives and can be a very encouraging resource for us to use in our prayers. Many times when we pray, it’s because we are struggling or simply in need of something. Praying scripture allows us to dive deeper into our prayers and center our requests around the word of God and His promises and plans for our lives.

This is how to do it:

First, write out the scripture you desire to pray over your life. (your favorite verse is an excellent place to start)
Memorize the scripture over time ( a few days, weeks, or months depending on your own learning pattern)
Pray the scripture out loud as you aim to memorize it over time.
As you pray out loud, insert yourself into the scripture.
For example using Proverbs 3:5-6: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to trust in you Lord with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding. Help me to acknowledge you in everything that I do so that you can give me direction and instruction for my life.

Writing out my scriptures and memorizing them as I pray has been a game-changer for my prayer life. It has not only changed the WAY I pray but also HOW I pray. Now, as I pray, I can’t help but weep and cry because of God’s word piercing every part of my heart as I speak.

The word is POWERFUL and life and death are in the tongue, so why not speak life over our situations?!

If we want to create life and raise life, we should also be speaking life! Speak life into your husband, into your children, into your household, and into yourself. It truly makes a difference.

I’ve seen so many times, on my Instagram and through my clients, the enemy takes hold of someone’s mind as they try to get pregnant or reach their goals in motherhood. Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. And guess what? He starts with the mind, sis.

He starts to get in each one of our minds when we are going through something and he talks down on us, discourages us, and attacks our thoughts. But you CAN capture those thoughts and make them obey Christ! (2 Corinthians 10:5)

So even now, as you read this blog post I BIND the enemy that seeks to attack your mind as you pray. I rebuke any hindering spirit holding you back from believing by faith in the desires of your heart and I pray that God sends his overwhelming presence into your life as you speak His word in your prayers!
