The newness of being a wife (and having a man as your new roommate!), the chaos of motherhood, each stage brings it’s own challenges, but today, we’re diving into a topic that hits close to home for many of us: Christian homemaking. Yes, we’re about to explore those comforting Bible verses about homemaking, ones that resonate with us as wives, mothers, and all-around home warriors.
So, grab your favorite cup of coffee, get comfy, and let’s chat about the heart and soul of our homes.
What are Christian Homemakers
So, what exactly is a Christian homemaker? Well, sis, it’s you! It’s me!
It’s every strong, dedicated woman who pours her heart into creating a haven of love and warmth within her four walls. It’s more than household chores and what we see on TV shows. Being a Christian homemaker means recognizing that the home, being a wife, and being a mother are more than just roles – they’re ministries.
Our mission? To nurture, support, and guide our loved ones with the wisdom of the Lord as our guiding light!
Doing Good Work Through God’s Word
When we get married, our homes become our first ministries. Think about it – through God’s grace, we’re entrusted with the care of our homes, our husbands, and our precious little ones.
Proverbs 31:27 reminds us, “She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”
We’re called to be diligent and purposeful in our daily lives, managing our to-do lists and nurturing our families while finding peace in the good news of the Lord. Homemaking is hard work with the constant to-do list and the pile of dishes in the kitchen sink, but it’s so rewarding!
What matters most in being a homemaker is God’s perspective, which makes for joyful homemaking.
Full-Time Homemaker as a Stay at Home Mom
Now, if you’re like me, you might be rocking the stay-at-home mom life. Juggling three little ones under four years old? Girl, I feel you!
One method that’s been a game-changer for me is the FlyLady cleaning method. It helps me stay on top of things, one baby step at a time. From decluttering chaos to keeping my kiddos’ creative chaos in check, this method brings sanity to my beautiful chaos.
Find your own rhythm and what it means for you to be a “good homemaker.” For me, it means having a fairly clean home (despite the occasional tripping over toy cars) and doing SOMETHING daily to tidy and create peace in my home.

Christian Wife
Ladies, whether you’re a seasoned wife or a fresh newlywed, your role as a Christian wife is a cornerstone of your homemaking journey. Ephesians 5:22-24 sheds light on this path: “Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.”
It’s about partnership, respect, and building a home that stands strong on the foundation of faith.
What is a Biblical Homemaker?
So, what’s the biblical scoop on homemaking? It’s not just about cooking, cleaning, and decorating (although those are certainly part of the package!).
Titus 2:5 captures the essence beautifully: “To be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.” In other words, our role is about creating an atmosphere of love, kindness, and respect that radiates God’s glory!
Christian homemaking is a calling, a journey, and an opportunity to build a welcoming home life. Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom, a working mom, a wife, or all of the above, know that your efforts are cherished in the eyes of the Lord.
