losing a child quotes

Last Updated on April 14, 2023 by Avi Steen

It was a few months after my second miscarriage, a 45-day miscarriage at that. Being pregnant with my rainbow baby and an elderly woman at church said something that crushed my heart. She said, “Okay, try not to lose this one”. Talk about heart CRUSHING. It was the type of quotes about losing a child that no future mother in deep grief wants to hear. A negative quote that will forever be embedded in the mind.

As if losing a child was something I meant to do. Even something that I could have caused. God makes no mistakes.

Oh, how I wish there was a response (besides walking away) that I could give her but honestly, I was in shock.

As I share that with you here, I also hope to encourage you during this time, mama. IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT.

God makes no mistakes and although I didn’t have a positive experience with grief quotes said to me, I want you to.

So here are a few pieces of motivation that I pray help you during this time if you recently lost a child.

What do you say when someone loses a child?

Unless you have also lost a child, it’s hard to understand the grief of a parent who has lost a child. Losing a child quotes most often comes from experience and always from the heart.

You can always tell a parent who has lost a child that you are praying for them. You can let them know that you don’t understand what they might be going through in their overwhelming grief but you are here for them in any capacity that you can be.

How do you deal with the pain of losing a child?

Dealing with the pain of losing a child can be difficult. When a child dies, it takes time to heal to a point where you are able to cope. Each and every parent is created differently and therefore grieves differently and that’s okay. Allow yourself to grieve mentally, spiritually, and physically so that you can grieve well.

My sincere condolences to you mama.

Although I will never be able to find the right words for everyone who reads this post, I hope these grief quotes and prayers make you feel deeply loved.

Loss of a Child Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to praise your name and give you glory. God, we pray over the heart of the dear parent that is reading this prayer. We pray that their heart not be hardened with grief but soft with love for you and the child they are mourning.

We pray that grief doesn’t overcome them but that they are able to cope with their loss and come out stronger for the future children and current children that they have. We pray that they find courage, confidence and strength in you God to allow them to get through.

Your word says that you will never leave us or forsake us and for that we are truly grateful. Allow this parent to trust in you with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding God. We ask Lord that you guide them in the path that you want to take them and envelope them with your love.

In Jesus name, Amen.

In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
