Psalms to Read to Get Pregnant
Last Updated on September 20, 2023 by Avi Steen
When feeling discouraged I know for a fact that I can always go to the Word of God for encouragement, especially while trying to get pregnant. The Bible has some really encouraging scriptures and stories but Psalms is by far the most joyful book. Mostly written by David, a young shepherd to the ruling King, he expressed his joy and praise for the Lord in Psalms. That’s why you should lean on the book of Psalms to read to get pregnant.
Psalms is not only a book of encouragement and joy but it dives deep into genuine prayer to God through praise and worship. God calls us to worship him in spirit, and in truth. So take the time to read these Psalms in the mindset of praise and worship for the blessing that is to come!

- Psalm 20 – Victory over the challenge
- Psalm 23 – To find comfort
- Psalm 37 – Trusting in the Lord
- Psalm 40 – Waiting patiently
- Psalm 127 – God as your foundation
- Psalm 143 – When you’re losing all hope.
Bible Verses for Fertility and Psalms to Pray
2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.
They delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night! We need to meditate on the word of God. This is a psalm about obeying God and following his plan for your fertility journey.
That means we have to get into the word of God and meditate on what He is speaking to us in regards to our journey so that we can obey the plan He has for us.
- Psalm 13 – When it’s taking too long to get pregnant
1 O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever?
How long will you look the other way?
2 How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul,
with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy have the upper hand?
3 Turn and answer me, O Lord my God!
Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die.
4 Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!”
Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall.
5 But I trust in your unfailing love.
I will rejoice because you have rescued me.
6 I will sing to the Lord
because he is good to me.
That started off a little discouraging. Probably how you’re currently feeling on your TTC journey, right?
Just feeling like God is not speaking to you, but then it turned around into a praise and worship session. David said, don’t let my enemies gloat. When we see other women pregnant or those who got pregnant by “accident”, it’s hard to be happy for them. This is a great bible verse to go to for fertility when you need encouragement. The enemy will be defeated when God steps in and when God steps into your life.
We have to go to God in praise and worship so that we can allow His presence in and he will in turn pour into you, sis!
- Psalm 20 – Victory over the challenge of getting pregnant
4 May he grant your heart’s desires
and make all your plans succeed.
5 May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory
and raise a victory banner in the name of our God.
May the Lord answer all your prayers.
If you have been praying for a baby on this TTC journey, that is my request for you. May the LORD answer your prayers!
This psalm is a victory over the challenge of getting pregnant. Believing in the victory, in the plan, and the desire He placed in your heart. The scripture says that we have to continue to seek the Lord so that He will honor the desires of our hearts!
- Psalm 23 – Finding comfort in the one who created you
4 Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
When we get into the scripture, yall! I will not be afraid! I will not be afraid of going into IVF, IUI, or having a miscarriage. Rebuke the mindset that you will never get pregnant. Rebuke that mindset that you will always have miscarriages. We need to pray positivity over our womb, over our journey, and over our children!

- Psalm 37 – Trusting, completely, in the Lord
3 Trust in the Lord and do good.
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.
5 Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.
What is delight? Delight is a joy! Be joyful in the Lord. The JOY of the Lord is your strength.
You have the heart’s desire to have babies and to give birth. Put your heart’s desire into the joy of the Lord knowing that He will do it for you.
- Psalm 40 – Waiting patient for your blessing
1 I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,
and he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
That is powerful! Just think about how consuming the TTC journey can be. How overwhelming fertility and infertility can be. I think about quicksand. When you’re in quicksand and you’re struggling, the movies tell us to stop moving so you don’t sink faster. That’s what I think about when reading this scripture.
When we don’t have the Lord and when we’re struggling or trying to do everything on our own, we start to sink. We start to sink in TTC overwhelm and that is not what God desires of us. It says “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire.” God can lift you up out of the quicksand. You just have to allow him to. Be still and know that HE is God!
- Psalm 127 – God as your foundation and place of rest
2 It is useless for you to work so hard
from early morning until late at night,
anxiously working for food to eat;
for God gives rest to his loved ones.
We’re working and doing a whole bunch of stuff for our TTC journey, right? Eating right, taking supplements, and peeing on 10 pregnancy tests at a time. The thing is, sometimes we just need to sit in the presence of God so that He can tell us what to do and give us rest during this TTC season.
God needs to be the foundation and our feet need to be planted in Him. Seek Him and learn from Him you’re next steps.
- Psalm 143 – When you’re losing all hope
4 I am losing all hope;
I am paralyzed with fear.
5 I remember the days of old.
I ponder all your great works
and think about what you have done.
6 I lift my hands to you in prayer.
I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain.
Sis! Is that how you feel right now? Losing all hope and being paralyzed in fear and depression.
Reflect on what God has already done for you. Reflect on the great works He’s brought into your life. Take some time for prayer and gratitude. Lift your hands in prayer and thirst for the Lord!
